Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is famous throughout the world for its breakthroughs in ultrasound, organic chemistry, mechatronics, system diagnostics, environmental engineering and in many other fields of science. The University successfully implements European research programmes and closely collaborates with domestic and foreign industry sectors having the largest number of research contracts with business among Lithuanian universities.

Research and projects

KTU traditionally engages in research of physical, technological and social sciences, and experimental development, while research of biomedical sciences and humanities is also promoted.

In 2015 KTU scientists performed 7 Horison 2020 projects, 15 projects of Seventh Framework Programme (7BP), participated in 35 COST activities, published more than 460 articles in international publications of foreign publishers.

University publishes five scientific journals refereed in "ISI Web of Science" database: „Elektronika ir elektrotechnika", "Information Technologies and Control", "Mechanics", "Materials Science", "Engineering Economics“.

Study programmes for international students

KTU offers 16 Undergraduate study programmes for international students, 31 Master programmes as well as doctoral studies in English and Russian in seven main fields: Architecture, Business & Administration, Computer Sciences, Engineering, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, and Technologies.

Tuition fees

Tuition fees differ depending on level of studies and study programme chosen by the student. On average, the cost of studies at higher education is approximately 2800 EUR per year for Bachelor studies, from 3500 to 4000 EUR per year – for Master studies and from 6000 EUR to 7930 EUR per year - for doctoral studies. This fee structure applies to you if you are a Lithuanian or EU citizen.

Living expenses

Lithuania is an affordable country. As a student in Lithuania, you get many discounts at teaching centres, public transport, few restaurants and eatery joints, theatres, etc. The cost of living varies depending on the lifestyle, habits, facilities, and location. On an average, a student can expect to pay between 400 EUR and 700 EUR. Public transportation is cheap in Lithuania. A monthly ticket for public transportation is about 15 EUR.

Accommodation

A person, who has a status of the student of Kaunas University of Technology, can be accommodated at the dormitory. Foreign students are accommodated at the dormitories No. 2, 5, 8 and 10. A place for accommodation will be offered according to the availability at the dormitories.
